Manual Garage Door Won T Stay All The Way Up
From here lift the garage door by hand about 3 feet above the ground and then release the door and see were it lands.
Manual garage door won t stay all the way up. Slowly close your door about halfway and release it. Move the limit switch to try and solve this issue. Hold the garage door and remove the vise grips from the track after the spring tension has been adjusted. You should also find buttons or nobs that will adjust the force too.
You should now be able to move the door up and down by hand. As the garage door motor lifts the door it pushes against the limit switch in blue in the diagram causing the motor to cut out at the correct height. The limit adjusters control how far the garage door goes up and how far it goes down. Start by making sure your garage door is open all the way.
Locate the limit adjusters. Release your hold on the door and see if it stays up all the way. Ideally the door should slowly float up from this point. If your garage door is not balanced right it won t go up or down all the way.
